I think the downturn in the economy shows how important cultivation is and this is something that a lot of nonprofits I truly feel don't understand. True cultivation isn't having an event once a year, but really engaging donors. If you can hook a donor, even in years where they may not have a lot of money you still have a friend and friends tend to stick around in good and bad times, unlike a corporation.
