Video: Preserving the Diversity of Life

This video is from the wonderful TED series, which seems to grow daily. It's a big-picture talk, but utterly fascinating for anyone interested in ecology or sustainable development. In it, E.O. Wilson accepts his 2007 TED Prize and makes a plea on behalf of his constituents, the insects and small creatures, to learn more about our biosphere. Wilson identifies five grave threats to biodiversity (a term he coined), using the acronym HIPPO, wishes aloud that we will work together on the Encyclopedia of Life, a web-based compendium of data from scientists and amateurs on every aspect of the biosphere.

Video: Saving Southern Forests

Video: Campaign on Global Warming

Courtesy of the wonderful Houtlust blog - which covers the confluence of media, advertising and causes - we got this video produced for the Canadian World Wildlife Fund. But wait, it's not a video advertisement; it's a video of an outdoor ad, in this case a billboard by the road in Canada. Who knows the global warming story? The shadow knows.

Video: Green Day and the NRDC Rock Out

Here's a great video from the National Resources Defense Council featuring rockers Green Day. Very well done, in my view.
